The house is located 10 km from the town of Sisteron, most famed for its Citadel. The city is situated on the banks of the River Durance with a supervised beach during the summer.
And more still…
The town of Digne is only 20 minutes drive in the car. It has a great thermal complex (swimming pool, sauna, and hammam). From here you will be able to visit Luberon with the town of Forcalquier (the city organizes a large market on Monday). If markets are your ticket, you will find a beautiful market in Saint Auban on Sunday and every day during the season in any of the nearby towns.
Ganagobie
For history lovers, the monastery of GANAGOBIE is located in the Haute Provence Alps, in the south of France. Between Sisteron and Manosque, over an escarpé plate, it dominates the entire Durance valley. With an average altitude of 650 metres, the plate of Ganagobie evolved approximately 20-25 million years ago, in the basin of Forcalquier, which at the time was covered by the sea. The site of GANAGOBIE offers, with its geological components, an exceptional level of interest for all with natural rock shelters, a heavy sprinkling of natural resources and abundance of vegetation.
The ballades
For keen walkers, the house has many surrounding ballades to be explored. Follow a ballade from the house, and you’ll be taken along a delightful route to the village (see how to come) by the plate which is to the top of the house (two hours duration approximately). For those who would rather pedal, you can always take along your VTT! You are also only 50 minutes away from the Gorges of Verdon, with multiple water based activities and the superb town of Moustier Sainte Marie.
Sports
A 90 minute drive will take you towards Briançonnais, or the valley of Ubaye where you will find other activities more extreme like canyoning, white water rafting etc...Finally for those of you who prefer a more peaceful birds eye view, we suggest to you to consider various flying activities, details of which you will find in the corresponding page.
