Volonne
Alongside the little village of L’Escale, Volonne is a village typical of Provence, with its small, narrow streets and superb medieval buildings and doors. The population is 1,500 and sits at an altitude of 400m. You’ll quickly fall under the charms of this small village with its 17th century country house castle, situated within walking distance of the town hall. You will be able to walk to the old ramparts and aqueduct of the 15eme siécle.

Access by car: the house is located at the northern exit of the village of Volonne. You will easily see it when coming from the north. Otherwise there are small signposts signalling “rando aéro.”
ATTENTION: as from September 04, 2005, the bridge which connects Chateaux Arnoux to Volonne will be out of order for the duration of 1 year. It will therefore be necessary to pass by the small village of L'Escale (if you arrive from the south) or to cross the Durance to the South of Sisteron on the level of the Motorway exit.

If you arrive by the A51 motorway from Grenoble or Marseilles (simplest way), take the southern Sisteron exit, through the Valley of Jabron. The direction of Volonne is indicated on the roundabout (third exit). By the main road while coming from the north, cross Sisteron and take the direction of the motorway to the south of the city, and the direction of Volonne is indicated on the roundabout of the A51. While coming from the south, through Chateaux Arnoux, take L'Escale then Volonne. If you come from Digne Les Bains, take L'Escale then Volonne.
